The Bedfordshire Police Service Studentship
Wed 13 April, 2016
Students starting university this autumn and considering a career with the Police should apply today for a Bedfordshire Police Studentship at the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ
Closing on 30 April, the studentship is worth £4,500 per year of study - that’s a 50% fee waiver at undergraduate level, presently £4,500 for each year of a three year course of study, and £4,500 in total at Masters level - as well as the chance of a rewarding career with the police service.
There are five studentships available to those undertaking either undergraduate or postgraduate study. They offer the opportunity to train as a Special Constable as well as taking on a work placement with the force during the course of a degree.
Running for the second year the studentships are available to all students who have a confirmed offers for the academic year 2016-2017, on a full time course, and who have been a resident of Bedfordshire since 1 May 2015.
Commenting on the success of the inaugural year of the scheme, Director of Innovation and Enterprise at the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ, Dr Nick Lancaster, said: “The Bedfordshire Police Studentship is a great opportunity for our students.
"As well as the obvious financial benefits it will also boost students’ awareness of the requirements of the workplace and boost their employability post-study."
The five studentships will be broken down into four at undergraduate level, and one at Masters level. Applications are welcomed from students studying in any of the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂ﯉۪s faculties, though applicants on a course relevant to policing will be favourably weighted.
Essential criteria:
- A confirmed offer to commence undergraduate studies in the academic year 2016-17 (those with a conditional offer may apply but the final award is dependant on confirmation of a place at the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ). Or a First or Upper Second class degree if applying for Masters level study
- Must be a resident of Bedfordshire as of 1 May 2015
- Satisfy academic entry requirements – i.e. those studying for A Levels may apply but the final award depends on confirmation of those results and 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ entrance.
