History of the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ

  • 1882 - Bedford Training College was founded in Bromham Road, then moved to The Crescent Bedford
  • 1903 - Bedford Physical Training College was founded in Lansdowne Road
  • 1904 - Luton Modern School was founded behind Park Street
  • 1908 - Luton Modern School and Technical Institute moved to 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ Square
  • 1919 - Female pupils moved to the new Luton High School for Girls in Alexandra Avenue
  • 1937 - The Technical Institute at 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ Square was renamed Luton Technical College
  • 1938 - Male pupils moved to the new Luton Grammar School in Bradgers Hill Road (which was to become Luton Sixth Form College in 1956)
  • 1958 - The secondary Technical School moved to Barnfield Avenue (later to become Barnfield College) Luton Technical College became Luton College of Technology
  • 1969 - Bedford Training College moves from The Crescent to Polhill Avenue 
  • 1976 - Luton College of Technology merged with Putteridge Bury College of Education to become Luton College of Higher Education
    Bedford Training College merged with Bedford Physical Training College and Bedford Further Education College to become Bedford College of Higher Education
  • 1994 - Bedford College of Higher Education becomes part of De Montfort 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ
  • 1993 - Luton College of Higher Education becomes the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ of Luton
  • 2006 - The 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ of Luton merges with DMU's Bedford campus to become the 91ÑÇÉ«APPÏÂÔØ
